RESEARCH AT IoBM

Research is accorded top priority at the Institute of Business Management. IoBM has a full-fledged research department headed by a Director with the following components:

• Every full time faculty member has a contractual obligation to complete one major research study during a year.

• The CBM MBA is research intensive and every optional course is designed to include a research component.

 

Pakistan Business Review

 

IoBM publishes Pakistan’s first academic business research quarterly. It is supervised by an international advisory board of business academics from national and international organizations, such as the London School of Economics, the University of Sussex, the University of San Diego, Bochun University, Germany, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the International Association for Clean Technology, Austria, the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics, the Applied Economic Research Center, and The Aga Khan University, Karachi. All CBM full time faculty members are on the editorial board and contribute research papers on a regular basis.

External Research

 

Consultancy work has been undertaken for The Aga Khan Education Service, Karachi, the Institute of Bankers in Pakistan, Deloitte, Touche International Chartered Accountants, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, Vienna, SBP and Doha Bank. CBM papers are regularly presented at the annual meetings of the Pakistan Society for Development Economics, Islamabad. A book on Money and Banking in Pakistan has been published by the Oxford University Press in the year 2001. A new addition of this book appeared in 2003. Another book on Financial Management in Pakistan has been recently published by the Oxford University Press. A book on Case Studies on Organizational Behavior in Pakistan is under preparation.

IoBM subscribes to the Business Collection of JSTOR an online access to a vast collection of business academic journals. It allows access to 46 multidisciplinary and discipline specified collections. In addition HEC has allowed us online access to almost 5000 research journals. These publications carry theoretical and applied research findings in fields such as Accounting, Business, Computing, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Law, Management, Marketing, etc. The fast internet link of IoBM makes it quite comfortable to download articles, and research reports. Students may take advantage of these facilities from all computational facilities available at the campus. Faculty is encouraged to use these research journals and give assignments and group discussion exercises based upon the articles of specific fields.
