Chairman, Intellectual Property Organization visits IoBM



The Chairman of the Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) of Pakistan, Mr. Farukh Amil, along with Ms. Saima Kanwal, Senior Patent Examiner, visited the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) to meet with the President of IoBM, Mr. Talib Karim, to discuss matters related to Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for Higher Education Institutes (HEIs).
While speaking on the occasion, Mr. Farukh Amil and Mr Talib Karim discussed how HEIs can introduce innovation and intellectual property awareness among undergraduate students and how these concepts can be embedded in the national curriculum.

Also, present on the occasion were Dr. Tariq Soomro, Acting Rector IoBM; Dr. Ather Akhlaq, Director ORIC; Syed Faraz Ali, Manager ORIC; Ms. Donia Niaz, Assistant Manager ORIC; and Ms. Humaira Kanwal, Research Officer ORIC. The meeting ended on a positive note for future collaboration in areas of mutual interest for the benefit of students, faculty members, and society.

The recent visit by the Chairman of the Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) to IoBM is part of fostering and achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). By fostering awareness and education about Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the curriculum, educational institutions can enhance the quality of education and promote innovation. This initiative also supports SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), as it emphasizes collaboration between higher education institutes and government organizations to develop policies that encourage intellectual property awareness and innovation.
