SSKIC at IoBM Hosts Exclusive PUAN Visit

The Shahjehan Syed Karim Incubation Center (SSKIC) at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) had the distinct honour of being the only private-sector institution selected for a high-profile visit by members of the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN). The event, organized by the U.S. Mission Karachi, PUAN, LMKT, and NIC Karachi, highlighted SSKIC’s pivotal role in fostering innovation, inclusion, and tech entrepreneurship.

The visit was part of a dynamic five-day entrepreneurship masterclass designed to empower entrepreneurs with cutting-edge strategies for innovation and scaling ventures. Curated by LMKT and NIC Karachi under the U.S. Mission’s initiative, the program also emphasized strengthening economic ties between Pakistan and the United States.

In his welcome address, Mr. Raza Abbas, Head of the SSKIC-IoBM, shared the diverse projects undertaken by the SSKIC and how an ecosystem of ideas and initiatives is being curated at SSKIC. He emphasized that the selection process for the flagship cohort program at SSKIC is rigorous, inclusive, and merit-based, ensuring only the most innovative and impactful tech-enabled ideas are incubated and are chosen based on their scalability, sustainability, and potential to contribute to socio-economic development. Moreover, he added that SSKIC is one of the few incubation centers in Pakistan that offer seed money to qualified start-ups in the cohort program. During this visit, SSKIC showcased its impactful Cohort initiatives, engaging PUAN members with insights into its incubation model, ongoing projects, and success stories in nurturing youth entrepreneurship. The discussions underscored SSKIC’s commitment to driving economic growth through innovation and cross-border partnerships.

The collaboration marks another milestone in the ongoing engagement between PUAN and the U.S. Mission, further solidifying SSKIC’s reputation as a hub for transformative ideas and global networking opportunities. The event also featured SSKIC-IoBM alumni sharing their entrepreneurial journey. They were Digibook, Zarai Baramdaat, Bioraff, and FiltResha.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abbas, Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Systems (CCSIS) at IoBM, honored the distinguished US Mission and NIC Karachi guests by presenting them with commemorative souvenirs. The event was hosted by Maham Saleem, Management Trainee, SSKIC-IoBM.
