The department of Industrial Management at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) organized a guest speaker session on Wednesday, February 19, 2020. Haris Naved Ahmed, Deputy Head, Strategic Planning at the Pak-Arab Refinery (PARCO) was the resource person. Mr. Ahmed delivered an interesting talk on the “Future of Industries.” He elucidated the audience about how the industry evolved over the course of centuries and what impact it made on society. Moreover, he discussed the industrial trends based on current and future predictions and how to deal with neoliberal/global economic and political issues associated with such trends and practices. While mentioning the four industrial revolutions, Mr. Haris highlighted how the Industrial management graduates have the edge of the consumption and production gap and what are the key areas they can exploit in the near future.
During his welcome note, Dr. Shahzeb Malik, HoD, Industrial Management, IoBM said that this is the first among a series of guest speaker sessions being organized by his department. He was confident that the Industrial Engineering and Management Department will continue to invite industry experts to such sessions. This will facilitate students to learn insights about industry practices to complement the theoretical and conceptual knowledge imparted to them during classroom lectures which are in line with the vision and mission statement of CBM. Present on this occasion were Dr. Shahid Amjad, HoD, Environment and Energy Management and Industrial Engineering’s Mukhtar Ahmed, Senior Fellow, Dr. Muhammad Irshad Khan, Senior Fellow, Mr. Fahad Abdullah, Senior lecturer, Ms.Falak Shad Memon, Senior lecturer, Ms.Mehreen Kausar Azam, lecturer and Ms.Faiza, Research Associate.
The guest speaker thanked Ms. Mehreen Kausar and the department for inviting him to share his knowledge and highlighted the importance of academia-industry linkage. He was presented a memento and an appreciation certificate at the end of this session.
