IoBM Alumnus Dr. Abdul Mueed Khan Inspires Students with Pharmaceutical Career Insights



Dr. Abdul Mueed Khan, an alumnus of the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) and the Asia Cluster Medical Lead at Sandoz Regional Hub in Malaysia, recently returned to his alma mater as a guest speaker. He completed his MBA in Health and Hospital Management from IoBM in 2012. The event, a collaboration between IoBM’s Alumni Office and the College of Business Management (CBM), focused on career opportunities within the pharmaceutical industry. The session was well-attended by faculty and students, including Dr. Shagufta Rafiq, Associate Dean of CBM; Dr. Aliya Sikander, Head of the Department of Communication and Languages; and Ms. Kishwer Nazli.

Dr. Abdul Mueed Khan’s talk provided valuable insights into the diverse and impactful career paths available in the pharmaceutical sector. Dr. Abdul Mueed’s session began with an interactive ice-breaker before he delved into the industry's significant global value of over USD 1.5 trillion. He highlighted its crucial role in curing diseases and cited the rapid development of COVID-19 vaccines as a prime example of its scientific and economic impact. While sharing his career journey, Dr. Abdul Mueed Khan provided students with a comprehensive overview of various career paths, including: Research and Development Manufacturing and Quality Control Regulatory and Medical Affairs Sales and Marketing Supply Chain and Logistics.

He also emphasized the importance of continuous learning, building credibility, and developing problem-solving skills to succeed in a fast-changing world. The session was highly engaging, with students actively participating in a Q&A about career growth and emerging trends in the life sciences.
