There could be no better a person to talk on Corporate Law in Pakistan than Barrister Naseem Ahmed Bajwa, who is a distinguished senior lawyer from London and member of the Honorable Society of Gray’s Inn practicing in England and the Lahore High Court. During his talk he shared valuable insights on developments in Contract Law. Corporate law governs the rights, relations, and conduct of persons, companies, organizations and businesses engaged in commerce, merchandising, trade, and sales. Corporate law is also the practice or study of how shareholders, directors, employees, creditors, and other stakeholders such as consumers, the community, and the environment interact with one another.
IoBM’s Mr. Talib Karim, President, Ms. Sabina Mohsin, Executive Director, AAF and senior management, encourages HoDs and faculty to invite distinguished professionals as guest speakers. Guest speaker sessions, a regular practice of the IoBM career-focused academic programs, facilitates IoBM students and faculty to acclimatize themselves with latest trends in academia and corporate sector.
The aim of teaching Corporate Law at IoBM is to provide students the knowledge about the practical aspects in the areas of the companies ordinance, 1984, incorporating and registering different types of companies and joint ventures, raising finances from different modes like issuance of shares, debentures and other capital maintenance issues; practical aspects of holding and managing company meetings and decision making; powers, duties and responsibilities of directors and other company officers in the light of corporate laws and governance; practical aspects of mergers and acquisitions and the reasons and consequences of liquidations.
