IoBM Forms a Consortium for HEC Grant to Foster Innovation and Commercialization



IoBM forms a consortium with three universities to establish its Shahjehan Syed Karim Incubation Center (SSK-IC) with the Higher Education Commission. HEC Pakistan has focused on encouraging universities to raise their innovation and sustainability capacity through the ORIC offices of various institutes. IoBM is the only private sector university amongst the members to sign the agreement.

Other universities are Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (Jamshoro) the lead applicant, Dawood University of Engineering & Technology (Karachi), and Sindh Madressatul Islam University (Karachi). The consortium will be led by Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro (MUET). IoBM will mainly assist with the capacity building, training, and mentoring for startups across these as well as other institutions. The consortium allows the startups to share resources and information as well as talent to ensure that each university has the access and potential to support sustainable startups and better private and public opportunities.

 The signing ceremony is the foundation for recognition of its Shahjehan S Karim Incubation Center (SSKIC) as an HEC-recognized incubation center for Innovation and Commercialisation. The signatories included Dr. Inamullah Bhatti, Director ORIC- MUET, Dr. Samra Javed, Director, ORIC-IoBM, Dr. Ghulam Mujtaba, Director ORIC-DUET and Dr. Aamir Iqbal, Director ORIC-SMIU as well as Mr. Burhan A Saiyed (Head of SSKIC) and Mr. Ali Jadoon (Manager, Research & Development, ORIC, IoBM).
