The President's Merit Scholarship fosters the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by taking comprehensive steps to deliver SDG 4 & SDG 5:
SDG 4: Quality Education-The President's Merit Scholarship promotes SDG 4: Quality Education by encouraging academic excellence and providing opportunities for high-achieving students. It reduces educational inequalities by ensuring access to higher education for deserving students, fostering a culture of learning and achievement.
SDG 5: Gender Equality-The scholarship also advances SDG 5: Gender Equality by celebrating the achievements of female students and supporting their career growth. It highlights the institution’s commitment to empowering women, helping them attain leadership roles, and fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.
The certificate distribution event of the President's Merit Scholarship Ceremony 2022 was held at IoBM on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. This scholarship was awarded to as many as 28 meritorious students. Undergraduate students require to secure a GPA & CGPA of 3.75 and above while graduate students need to secure a GPA & CGPA of 3.8 and above. Present on this occasion were IoBM’s Mr. Bashir Janmohammad, Chancellor; Mr. Talib S. Karim, President; Ms. Sabina Mohsin, Executive Director; Deans, HoDs, management, faculty, meritorious students, and their proud parents. The MC of the event was Ms. Juveria Baig, HoD, Internship and Placement Department. Ammar Shahkar Syed (BBA-H) recited the verses from the Holy Quran.
During his speech, Mr. Talib Karim shared that it is a pleasure to host this event on an annual basis that highlights the high-achieving students. He added that the majority of the meritorious students present today are girls. “We see a lot of career growth among female students who are reaching top levels in the corporate sector,” he added. He emphasized that students should acquire knowledge by cultivating a habit of reading. He urged the students to present themselves as future managers, to become confident, and to be presentable while maintaining professional decorum. President IoBM advised students to spend time with their parents instead of concentrating on social media.
During his Vote of Thanks, Mr. Bashir Janmohammad said that the parents of the meritorious students have worked hard to see their students succeed in life. He advised students to become job creators. Furthermore, he urged the students to dream and become the best in their chosen fields. Mr. Janmohammad emphasized students to be punctual, be honest, follow the rules, and to dream big. “Respect your parents, your teachers, yourself,” he added.
Meritorious students also shared about their journey at IoBM. They Ammar Shankar Sayied (BBA-H), Yameena Nasir (BS Honors-Accounting and Finance), Syeda Zahra Ali (BS-Actuarial Science and Risk Management), Karim Amin (BS-Social Entrepreneurship and Social Leadership).
The event concluded with the revealing of the plaque with the names of the meritorious students.
