IoBM earns 2nd place at Activade Inter-University Cricket Blast

IoBM’s tape-ball cricket team gave its best in the final match against SZABIST and after a nail-biting match, fell short by 6 runs. IoBM’s players gave a gutsy performance throughout the tournament and emerged as the runner-ups.

Activade Tapeball Cricket Blast was held on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at the Kachi Memon Ground, Bahadurabad. It was a night cricket tournament organized and sponsored by Active Foods.

The top four universities of Karachi that participated in this tournament were: Institute of Business Management (IoBM), Insititute of Business Administration (IBA), Greenwich University and Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST).

The tournament was played on a knockout format. The first match was played between IBA and SZABIST which Szabist won. IoBM comprehensively won the second match of the tournament against Greenwich University. Batting first, IoBM scored 66 runs in 6 overs with all-round performances from Ahmed Kabir and Shahroz Anwar. Ahmed Kabir was the top scorer with 41 runs off 15 balls. Greenwich University only managed to score 46 runs in 6 overs. Talha Nazir took 3 wickets.

The final match was played between IoBM and SZABIST. After a nail-biter match, unfortunately IoBM lost the match by 6 runs. Batting first, SZABIST scored 62 runs in 5 overs. Facing a tough task, IoBM fought hard until the last ball but fell short by 6 runs.

The Tournament was organized in a very professional manner and each player and team showed high sportsman spirits. SZABIST was awarded the Winning Trophy while IoBM was the Runner-Up in the event. All the team players were presented with Activade goodie bags consisting of Activade T-shirts and energy drinks.

The following players are a part of IoBM’s tape-ball cricket team:  Syed Shahroz Anwar (Captain), Bilal Khan (Vice Captain), Ahmed Kabeer, Sheikh Usman, Talha Nazir, Wahaj Zaheer, Abdul Munim, Arsalan Mohiuddin, Sufyan Zafar, Azlan Ahmed, Kumail Rizvi and Ali Ibad.
