Under the inspiring guidance of IoBM's Senior Leadership: Mr. Talib Karim, President, Ms. Sabina Mohsin, VP FHE and Chief Advisor, Prof. Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro, Rector, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kashif, Dean CBM, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abbas, Dean CCSIS, and Dr. Nadia Ayub, Dean CESD, a series of events were organized to celebrate the essence of independence that were held from July 29 to August 14, 2025.
With support from Heads of Departments, faculty, management, and students, and through a united effort between the Senior Leadership, the Department of Sports and Student Societies, and various other IoBM departments - General Administration, Maintenance, Security, Housekeeping - the campus resonated with cheers and applause. This unity signifies that IoBM is a mini-Pakistan, and a living reality of the dream of our beloved late Founding President, Mr. Shahjehan Syed Karim, who envisioned IoBM as a beacon of higher education and learning in Pakistan.
The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) celebrated Pakistan's 78th Independence Day with a vibrant series of events from July 29 to August 14, 2025. Under the banner of the Marka-e-Haq 78th Independence Day Celebrations, the campus was a hub of patriotic activity. The IoBM Campus buildings were decorated with lights, illuminating the spirit of freedom. Pakistani flags fluttered across the campus, emanating a patriotic zeal and enthusiasm.

Activities on August 14, 2025
On August 14, 2025, IoBM's Senior Leaderhip, HoDs, Management, Faculty, Staff, and theri families gathered at IoBM to join the festivities marking Pakistan's 78th Independence Day. Student members from IoBM's societies including LPSS, Vanquishers, and the IoBM Film Society, that actively participated in the Independence Day celebrations were also present. Wearing green and white and holding the Pakistani flag with the Pakistan flag pin prroudly placed on their chests, the IoBM Family enthusiastically reingited the spirit of freedom. The host of the event was IoBM student Nighat Arif (BS Media Studies). Hafiz Humayun Baig offered Dua for Pakistan and for IoBM.
The event began with the March-in of the guards. Mr. Talib Karim and Ms. Sabina Mohsin, hoisted Pakistan's flag, an emblem of national strength. The National Anthem echoed far and wide with all those in attendance singing along.
In his welcome address, Mr. Talib Karim, President IoBM, expressed gratitude to the founding fathers who sacrificed their lives during the 1947 migration. He urged the audience to appreciate the freedom and independence they enjoy in Pakistan, a blessing not everyone in the world has. Mr. Talib Karim's core message to the youth was to be committed and take ownership of their country. He also emphasized the immense talent of Pakistani youth, signifying that they have the potential to take the country to new heights. He proudly mentioned that IoBM's students and alumni are excelling in various fields, serving as an example that the youth of Pakistan can achieve their dreams. He concluded his address by stating that the celebration of Independence Day should not be limited to August 14th but should be a continuous commitment celebrated for decades to come.
The senior leadership of IoBM also took part in a campus plantation drive, pledging to make the country greener and more sustainable for future generations. Children and faculty members expressed their love for Pakistan by singing national songs. Among the highlights, IoBM's Rector, Prof. Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro, sang a national song he had written, which resonated deeply with the audience. The spirits were further invigorated by Mr. Misbah Uddin, GM, HR and Senior Advisor to the VP FHE, who also sang national songs during the Plantation Drive, and by Dr. Shagufta Ghauri, Acting Associate Dean, (Undergraduate Programs) CBM, who joined students in a beautiful rendition of a Milli Naghma.
The event also featured the announcement of the results of the Female Faculty and Management Badminton Championship and the Male Faculty and Management Snooker Championship, which were as follows:
Meanwhile, the IoBM campus was a hub of fun activities for everyone. Children of the IoBM family enjoyed playing at the jumping castle, while food, jewelry and stalls offering handnade products were popular with all visitors. The celebrations concluded with a delicious breakfast.
