The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) organized the soft opening of the Lecture Theater and Training Hall of EMEC on Saturday, November 23, 2019. It is situated on the second floor of the Shahjehan S. Karim Center of Excellence (SSKCE) Building. EMEC, IoBM will primarily use this hall to conduct its executive training sessions, seminars, conferences and workshops. IoBM’s Basheer Janmohammad, Chancellor; Talib Karim, President and Sabina Mohsin, Executive Director, inaugurated this lecture theater. Mazhar ul Haq Siddiqui and Khalid M. Nagra, members of IoBM’s academic council were invited to this event. IoBM’s Rector, HoDs, Deans, faculty, management and staff were also present on this occasion.
During his speech, Talib S. Karim said that the EMEC training hall has a capacity of 72 plus persons and it is part of the EMEC Executive Wing. He informed about the various training halls and breakout rooms located on the second floor of the SSK that will be used by EMEC and the faculty. While talking about the purpose-built SSK Center of Excellence, Talib Karim thanked Mr. Janmohammed for insisting IoBM management to have the soft opening of the SSKCE on July 15, 2017, during the lifetime of the late founder President, Shahjehan S. Karim. IoBM President said that we must follow the values and principles inculcated by our late founder president. He envisioned IoBM to impart quality education to all.
During his keynote address, Mr. Janmohammed described the EMEC Lecture Theater and Training Hall to be similar to a venue he visited at the Stanford University, USA. He complimented the IoBM management, especially Mr. Talib Karim and Ms. Sabina Mohsin for their vision to construct the SSK Center of Excellence. While recalling the efforts of late Shahjehan S. Karim, Mr. Janmohammed said that his vision will always remain with the IoBM family. Chancellor IoBM recalled the days when CBM comprised two rooms and now it has evolved into an institute with four constituent colleges having a brand name recognized home and abroad. He also mentioned that IoBM does not reject the admission of any student on the basis of their financial constraints. Mr. Janmohammad assured that through the IoBM Endowment Fund the institute ensures that deserving students continue with their studies at IoBM.
The inauguration session was followed by the faculty development session on Emotionally Intelligent Educator using Lego Serious Play. Dr. Khurram J. Sharif, faculty at Qatar University was invited as the resource person. IoBM’s faculty and senior management participated in this session. This session comprised activity-based group learning exercises by using Lego Serious Play techniques.
