A visit to Atlas Group, Landhi was planned by the Department of Electrical Engineering, IoBM in collaboration with MUET on 22nd February 2022. In all 20 students of the Electrical Engineering department, a senior faculty member, Dr. Irfan Ullah Khan, and lab engineer, Mr. Mukesh Kumar participated in the visit. Atlas Group consists of many ventures. It includes Honda Atlas Cars Pakistan Limited which is a joint venture between Honda Motors Company Limited, Japan, and the Atlas Group of Companies, Pakistan. A presentation was given on the company and unprecedented growth in its operations from a small manufacturing company to the leading motorbike manufacturer of Pakistan. The strengths that were highlighted include organizational culture, good corporate image, corporate and well-trained staff, loyal service dealers’ network, availability of spare parts, best training facilities, and replicating Japanese standards.
After their presentation, a visit of Atlas Hi-Tec included a review of components like carburetor, sensors, ACGs (alternating current generator), and many other electrical and mechanical subsystems of Honda CD 70 and Honda CD 125. The key features and specifications of both motorbikes plus space parts available in the market were discussed through which components of these Honda bikes are made in Pakistan and a few components are imported from Japan were discussed. The students were thankful to IoBM for organizing the visit and to Mr. Imran Idrees of Atlas Group for their hospitality and the opportunity to learn.
IoBM also facilitated a subsequent visit by MUET scheduled on 5th March 2022.
