Global Webinar Showcases Sustainable Entrepreneurship Education to Empower Future Changemakers



The UNESCO Entrepreneurship Education Network (EE-Net) Pakistan Chapter, appointed by the Institute of Business Management, in collaboration with a National Curriculum Council expert, held the third webinar in its international webinar series titled: “Sustainable Entrepreneurship Education to Empower Future Changemakers’’ on May 31, 2025. The event was co-moderated by Mr. Raza Abbas – Head of UNESCO Entrepreneurship Education Network- Pakistan Chapter and Ms. Saima Abbas, an expert at the National Curriculum Council (NCC).

The webinar attracted national and international participation from educators, curriculum developers, mental health professionals, and policy experts. All attendees were united by a shared commitment to embedding sustainability and entrepreneurial thinking into the school curriculum, equipping students to become proactive problem-solvers and innovators in a rapidly changing world.

Highlights from the Webinar

Ms. Sunita Basnyat, Sustainability Head, British College, Nepal: Sunita emphasized the power of experiential learning, highlighting that field tours and real-life exposure can serve as effective and low-cost tools to teach entrepreneurial skills. She underscored the role of curriculum as a strategic tool for productivity and creativity.

She detailed key components of their educational approach:

  • Sustainability for Startups: Teaching the SDGs and sustainability principles to budding entrepreneurs.
  • Problem Identification through Design Thinking: Turning social issues into opportunities for social enterprise.
  • Entrepreneurial Navigation: Building student capacity in research, market analysis, finance, and legal compliance.
  • Sustainability Mindset: Promoting the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) approach within student-led innovation.
  • Green Education Platforms: Encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration through the BBA: IFI framework.

Dr. Dessy Aliandrina, Founder, Sociopreneur Indonesia: Head of UNESCO Entrepreneurship Education Network-Indonesia Chapter 

Dr. Dessy introduced the Responsible Ecosystem (RE) Framework—a forward-looking model designed to foster collaboration across Academia, Business, Government, and Society (ABGS). Grounded in shared responsibility, empathy, innovation, and accountability, RE enables systemic change by integrating entrepreneurship education, social innovation, and local wisdom with a global perspective.

Her presentation outlined a roadmap for building impactful entrepreneurship programs:

  • Define Scope and Framework: Clearly align mindset, skillset, toolset, and curriculum.
  • Embed Sustainability through Problem-Based Learning (PBL): Use real-world challenges to enhance classroom learning.
  • Establish Multi-Tiered Recognition: Motivate students through structured achievement milestones.
  • Apply Effectuation Thinking: Start with available resources using the “bird in hand” principle.
  • Build Habits through Consistent Action: Cultivate sustainable behaviour through small, repeatable efforts.
