The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) hosted a solemn tribute on Tuesday. April 22, 2025 for its former Chancellor, the late Ambassador Najmuddin A. Shaikh, who passed away on March 28. Organized by IoBM's Global and Regional Studies Center (GRSC), the memorial brought together prominent diplomats, academics, colleagues, and family members to reflect on his exceptional service to Pakistan's foreign policy and education sectors. The gathering featured heartfelt tributes from IoBM President Mr. Talib Karim and distinguished diplomats including Ambassadors Syed Hassan Habib, Mustafa Kamal Qazi, Alam Brohi, Zafarullah Sheikh, Attiya Mahmood, and Qazi M. Khalilullah, along with scholar Dr. Huma Baqai and the late ambassador's brother, Air Marshal Riazuddin A. Shaikh. Speakers praised Najmuddin Shaikh's intellectual brilliance and steadfast commitment to national progress through both diplomatic and academic channels.
Mr. Talib Karim recalled Najmuddin Shaikh’s tenure as IoBM Chancellor, noting that his selection was driven by his transformative leadership and vision for education. Ambassador G.R. Baluch, Director GRSC-IoBM, chronicled Late Amb. Najmuddin Shaikh's illustrious diplomatic career, spanning key postings as Pakistan's envoy to the U.S., Germany, Canada, and Iran, followed by his impactful role as Foreign Secretary. The speakers on the occasion noted that while Najmuddin Shaikh’s passing creates an irreplaceable void, his legacy lives on through the institutions he nurtured and the countless lives he influenced. The memorial concluded with a Duaa and a collective pledge to uphold Najmuddin Shaikh's enduring values of integrity, statesmanship, and service – qualities that defined his remarkable life and continue to inspire future generations.
