Orientation for the future architects of Pakistan



The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) organized its Orientation Program for newly inducted batch of students for Fall Semester 2017 on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Shahjehan Syed Karim Center of Excellence.

This event was largely attended by IoBM Board of Governors, Management, Deans, Faculty and Staff along with over 1,200 new students. The Orientation Program formally began with the recitation of the Holy Quran made by IoBM’s Humayun Baig. Ms. Sarah Asghar, Officer, Alumni, Placement, International Cooperation and Student Counselor, IoBM delivered the English translation of the same.

Mr. Talib S. Karim, President IoBM, during his speech shared guiding points of success he learnt from his father, Late Founder President, IoBM, Mr. Shahjehan Syed Karim. He shared with students the importance of achieving quality education, the necessity to serve this country with vim and vigor, to respect ethical, religious, and societal values, and to support their parents especially in old age for they have sacrificed so much for their children.

Addressing this gathering, Chief Guest, Mr. Bashir JanMohammad, member IoBM Board of Governors and Chairman, Dalda, highlighted the vision of Late Mr. Shahjehan Syed Karim in establishing IoBM in 1995 and how that dream has blossomed over the last two decades.  Mr. Bashir JanMohammad emphasized upon IoBM’s expert faculty producing able graduates who are working at prominent local, national and international organizations. He advised new students to properly manage their time, focus on their studies and health, value their parents and remain courageous when facing life’s many personal and academic challenges. Meanwhile, in a ceremony followed by this Orientation Program, IoBM’s College of Computer Science and Information System (CCSIS) building was renamed as “Mr. M. Bashir JanMohammad CCSIS building.”

Earlier, during his welcome address, Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder, Dean CBM and CES, IoBM, elucidated upon Late Mr. Shahjehan Syed Karim’s vision and mission to inculcate among the students’ the need to become lifelong learners. Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder accentuated upon the students to achieve academic and professional excellence, gain intrinsic motivation through faculty and peers in fulfilling their life goals, undertake activities of experiential learning, become readers and writers and ensure their quest for excellence, therefore enabling them to make every next step better than the previous one. How to become a life-long learner and how to develop life-long learners

IoBM alumnus Merym Saudagar, the first gold medalist from the BS Media Studies program at IoBM, shared her memorable experiences at IoBM and highlighted the role of worthy faculty, exceptional academic and extra-curricular facilities and amiable atmosphere in enabling its students and alumni to achieve personal, academic and professional excellence.  She stressed upon new students to stay focused on class lectures, remain dedicated to their studies and always be willing to accept life’s challenges to achieve personal and professional excellence.

Also shown at the Orientation Program was the IoBM Documentary highlighting IoBM’s academic programs, state-of-the-art facilities and achievements of students at the national and international levels. Highlighted on this occasion were IoBM Student Societies’ career-oriented events and activities enabling students to become noble and gentle professionals.
