IoBM Capstone students amid the guidance of their faculty Major Mansoor organized a seminar on “CPEC – A Game Changer”, on Saturday, May 12, 2018 in Room No. 308, CBM Academic Building.
Students of Capstone II Project were required to study and research the impact of CPEC on the logistics industry of Pakistan by conducting meetings with industry experts to gain insights into this topic. Invited to speak was Mr. Amir Khan from China Overseas Port Holding Company Pakistan (Ltd.). Besides the presence of IoBM’s Mr. Muhammad Moinuddin Ali Khan, HoD, Quality Enhancement, Supply Chain and Logistics Management Department, this event was attended by IoBM students and faculty.
The objective of this seminar was to gauge the importance of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a massive bilateral project aimed to enhance Pakistan’s infrastructure and trade operations while promoting regional connectivity. Moreover, CPEC is intended to rapidly strengthen Pakistan’s economy by the construction of modern transportation networks, numerous energy projects, and special economic zones.
Apart from the decision of setting up a “Research Center of Logistics and Supply Chain” at IoBM, key highlights of the seminar included historical significance of the Silk Road route, geo-strategic advantage of Pakistan with respect to CPEC, foreign direct investments worth $62 billion coming to Pakistan, industrialization and growth in the region namely Gwadar Free Zone Business Complex and Gwadar Airport, perspective of the people of Pakistan about Gwadar, major gains to China and Pakistan.
