IoBM held a memorial meeting at its auditorium to mark the First Anniversary of its Late Founder President, Shahjehan S. Karim (SSK) on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. Glowing tributes were paid to the Late Founder President, who is known for his symbolic contribution to the cause of education and for the social sector at the national level and is cherished at IoBM for his guiding light, professional acumen, caring and sharing hallmarks. Mr. Saleem Abbas Jilani, a former distinguished figure of the Civil Service of Pakistan commented on the prudence of his batch mate, Late SSK: “Knowledge speaks but wisdom listens.” Mr. Bashir Janmohammad, Chancellor IoBM and Chairman Westbury Group of Companies, who has an instrumental role in the blossoming of IoBM since its inception in 1993, attributed Late SSK as all-smiling amid all challenges in enhancing this Institution from a meager 250 students in 1993 to 4,500 today and moving on where sky is the limit towards educational and CSR excellence. Mr. Talib S. Karim, President IoBM, while highlighting Late SSK as a role model, shared his father’s priorities for parents, siblings and family and that of helping the less-privileged students which IoBM is pursuing through its Outreach Program. Dr. Mehtab Karim, brother of Late Shahjehan Syed Karim and Vice Chancellor at Malir University of Science and Technology, while sharing insights from the life of Late SSK said that the latter’s focus was on educational, social and family values.
Members of the IoBM Board of Governors attending the meeting included: Mr. Jehangir Siddiqi, Ms. Ameena Saiyid and Mr. Salahuddin Qureshi who was also the civil service batch mate of Late SSK. IoBM, vision and mission and the dream-come-true-reality of its Late Founder President, continue its journey towards educational and professional excellence in business education and allied disciplines amid the inspiring and professional guidance and supervision of its President, Mr. Talib S. Karim and Executive Director, Ms. Sabina Mohsin. Besides the presence at this memorial meeting of IoBM’s Mr. Talib S. Karim, President; Dr. Ejaz Ahmed, Rector and Dean CCSIS; Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder, Dean CBM and CES who conducted this memorial meeting; Dr. Shahida Wizarat, Dean CESD; Mr. Ejaz Wasay, Head of Media Studies researching upon and authoring a book on Late SSK and Dr. Samra Javed representing those who worked in close association with IoBM’s Late Founder President. This memorial meeting was largely attended by IoBM students, faculty, management, HoDs, alumni and staff. Later, Quran Khawani was held in the office of Late Shajehan S. Karim and Fateha was offered at his grave on IoBM campus.
