IoBM, Pakistan & GLUT, China join hands to pursue and promote new areas in Higher Education and Research

A delegation from Guilin University of Technology (GLUT), China, visited the Institute of Business Management (IoBM), on Thursday, November 15, 2018 and held a meeting with IoBM’s management and faculty at the EMEC Conference Room to discuss ways and means in enhancing mutual cooperation.

Present were IoBM’s Mr. Talib S. Karim, President, Ms. Sabina Mohsin, Executive Director, Dr. Ejaz Ahmed, Rector, Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder, Dean, Dr. Shahid Amjad, HoD, Environment and Energy Department, Syed Hasan Habib, Sr. Fellow, Center for Policy and Area Studies, Dr. Seema Ansari, HoD, Electrical Engineering Department, Dr. Shahzeb Malik, HoD, Industrial Engineering and Management.

GLUT, China, was represented by Dr. Honghu Zeng, Registrar GLUT and Professor of Environment Science and Engineering, Dr. Xiaopeng Zhang, Vice Director of the International Office, Mr. Hua LIN, Associate Professor and Assistant Dean of the College of Environment Science and Engineering, Mr. Haixiang Li, Associate Professor and Section Head, College of Environment Science and Engineering.

Participants from GLUT China and IoBM Pakistan focused on promoting students exchange program, joint Master Degree in Environment Management, visiting scholars in Environment Engineering and Management, jointly hosting International Conferences all focusing on new horizons in academic, professional and cultural cooperation between the two institutions.

Dr. Khalid Amin, HoD, International Cooperation, Placement and Alumni, IoBM planned, organized and coordinated this meeting, as in the past regarding IoBM’s linkages with foreign universities, amid the guiding light of IoBM’s Late Founder President, Shahjehan Syed Karim who personally endeavored to link IoBM with renowned international institutions to project the positive image of Pakistan.

IoBM’s Academic Partner, Guilin University of Technology (GUT), is located in Guilin recognized as one of the most famous scenic cities in the world. GUT consists of four campuses which cover around 660 acres. There are 19 colleges with 70 undergraduate programmes and 45 Master and PhD degree programmes at GUT and it has more than 30,000 full-time students. GUT is multiple disciplinary with Engineering as the backbone, integrated with Science, Liberal Arts, Management, Economics Law and Agriculture. GUT has international exchange and cooperative links with over 100 universities, and research institutions in more than 50 countries, making the University a real multicultural community.

IoBM is rated as one of  the top universities by the Higher Education Commission, Government of Pakistan as well as the Government of Sindh. It has been the proud recipient of two Edunversal Palms, Paris, France awarded to it at the international convention of Deans of Business Colleges in recognition of its being one of the two best Business Schools since 2010. It has four constituent colleges, College of Business Management (CBM), College of Computer Science and Information Systems (CCSIS), College of Economic and Social Development (CESD) and College of Engineering and Sciences (CES) offering  career-oriented and value-adding programs in business management and allied disciplines. IoBM is an active member of the International Association of Universities (IAU), the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP), Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB),  Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), besides being associated with other international academic organizations. IoBM has indeed established global linkages and made a name for itself among reputed foreign business schools.
