IoBM’s first High School Summer Internship Program concludes



The Certificate Distribution Ceremony marking the successful completion of IoBM’s first High School Summer Internship (HSSI) Program 2023 was held at IoBM on Monday, July 31, 2023. Ten students from Karachi Grammar School (KGS) completed a 4-week internship at IoBM. They interned in various departments including Entrepreneurship and Management Excellence Center (EMEC), Marketing and Communications (MARCOM), Center of Information Technology (CIT), Shahjehan S. Karim Incubation Centre (SSKIC), Media and ORIC. Present on the occasion were IoBM’s President Mr. Talib Karim; Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro, Acting Rector; Dr. Shujaat Mubarik, Dean CBM; Ms. Juveria Baig, HoD Internship and Placement, and Mr. Abdul Khaliq, Assistant Manager, Internship and Placement.

While speaking on the occasion, Mr. Talib Karim said that the idea was to create awareness about IoBM through the Summer Internship Program and to let students utilize their summer vacations productively. President IoBM added that the students of Batch 1 of the Summer Internship Program are our ambassadors who will take forward the image of IoBM wherever they go.
During the event, the interns shared their views on the program. They shared a common consensus that the Internship Program helped them experience working in teams to complete tasks within given deadlines. They were hopeful that this internship has facilitated them in broadening their mental horizon, especially on how to manage projects, develop presentations and present them, organize events, and work in collaboration with teams among others. The interns especially praised the campus layout and facilities and showed an interest in interning again at IoBM.

IoBM's High School Summer Internship Program targets the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
•    SDG 4 (Quality Education): The internship program provided practical exposure and learning opportunities for high school students, aligning with the goal of ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.
•    SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth): By offering an internship that enhances students' skills in team collaboration, project management, and communication, the program contributes to promoting sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all.

Through such initiatives, IoBM reinforces its commitment to nurturing the next generation of skilled professionals and responsible citizens.
