The Media Studies Department is pleased to announce a new 3-credit-hour course, “Content Creation” in the Summer Semester 2018, for all undergraduate students enrolled in any program at IoBM. The course has been approved by the Academic Council, and its credit hours will be counted. Last summer a similar course “Discovering Films” was offered and students of BBA (Hons) and other undergraduate programs benefited from it. “Content Creation” is a production-related course, designed on an experiential learning format, and has a larger objective in mind.
Students registered in the course will produce weekly shows for the proposed IoBM Web TV. Because of the nature of the course, the class size will be restricted to 20, and students who apply for this course will be taken through an interview-based selection process, to assess their aptitude and inclination towards Creative Arts. Out of 20 students who will be selected by a panel comprising the course faculty, nearly half will be selected from amongst BS (Hons) Media Studies students to form the Technical Team, and the other half will be Non-Media students to form the Production Team.
The Technical Team will be responsible for Camera Work, Audio, Graphics, Editing and Direction; whereas, the Production Team, will assume the role of Writers, Producers, Field Producers, and On-Camera Talent i.e. Anchors, Reporters etc.
Class hours will be fixed as indicated above, but will be run like any Film Production class, where flexi-timing would be built in for shoots and lab work.
The course will be jointly conducted by Nabhan Karim, who has an MA in Film making from Kingston University – London, and BA in Film & Television from Indiana University Bloomington, USA, and a Visiting Faculty Hassan Sardar, Senior Producer at Express TV, who has a BE-Electronics from SSUET, and MBA from IBA.
To apply for the course, please email: nskarim@iobm.edu.pk to schedule an interview first.
