During his presentation, Dr. Zaki Rashidi talked about how business management students can acquire competencies and stressed upon three steps for obtaining competencies which include theatrical knowledge, practical knowledge and professional attitude. Dr. Zaki Rashidi also highlighted the three levels through which a professional cam transform from being a novice to an expert. These levels are: being able to achieve a higher level of efficiency in completing a task, the ability to handle complex duties and the amount of supervision one needs when completing a task. He also highlighted the need to develop a quality policy across all business management institutions and emphasized on teacher training programs along with universities regularly scrutinizing their own Quality Management System (QMS). While discussing the three perspectives of quality, Dr. Zaki Rashidi said that Objectivity, Relativity and Evolution must be adhered to at all times. Where objectivity refers to how you measure quality, relativity is our relevance to the said QMS approach and evolution is how a community understands quality.  Dr. Zaki said that behavior and functionality combine to define one’s competency and those students must be taught theoretical knowledge instead of generic knowledge in courses such as entrepreneurship. He again emphasized and reiterated that the key to Designing Quality in Business Management lies in pertinent knowledge and skills, professional attitude and motivation, connecting Quality, Program and Competencies, benchmarking and embedding the net result into the system.

Syed Asim Rasheed, CEO, Creative SWAN Consultancy, UAE, in his awe-inspiring presentation highlighted the need for educating skills and reengineering the human capital for the future. He referred to the evolutionary process of how the human labor or manual work of yesteryears was transformed into industrial revolution of the then technology now gradually evolving into the need for an all-digital mobile supercomputing, robotic approach in human functionalities, artificial intelligence, 3-D printing, automation, actuators, sensors and genetic editing etc. He shared that we need to gradually move to new skills, multiple careers and online learning and that is a question of how mindsets will shift and how workforce skills will shift keeping in mind the rise of millennial and Generation C of extremely short attention and concentration spans. He asserted that it was a question of Re-training, Re-deployment, Re-hiring, Re-contracting and a graceful Releasing Strategy for obsolete and out-of-date notions and personnel. It leaves us with the question: Are we incorporating and imparting teaching skills of the past or training skills of the future? A slow and gradual transformation from the former to the latter seemed to be the response of the audience.  Mr. Moin Uddin Ali Khan in his concluding remarks expressed gratitude for the distinguished guest for his precious time advocated future skills as a deciding factor and stressed upon the need for a roadmap to develop the future.
