Mr. Talib Karim, President IoBM, Ms. Sabina Mohsin, Executive Director, AAF, IoBM and Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder, Dean CBM and CES, IoBM have always motivated and encouraged faculty members to provide students with such opportunities to learn and excel in their fields through experiential learning.
The Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) organized the “Second Project Exhibition of Industrial Engineering Students” on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at the Shahjehan S. Karim Center of Excellence, IoBM.
Industrial Engineering students showcased their poster presentations depicting, blossoming ideas, insights and initiatives through this experiential learning activity amid the presence of academic and industrial experts invited to this occasion of truly remarkable academia-industry partnership.
The first prize was awarded to the “Shedder Machine” project by Huda Noor, M. Nabeel, Umair Ahsan Khan, Ramis Siddiqui and Uzair Akbar. The second prize was earned by “Bending Roller Machine” project by Imtiaz Ali, Heetaish Kumar, Karan Kumar and Zaid Akram. The third prize was given to “Copy Milling Machine” project by Ali Gohar, Umer Ahmed and Aiman Waheed.
This Project Exhibition of Industrial Engineering students was organized amid the guidance of Dr. Shahzeb Malik, HoD Industrial Engineering and Management Department, Director of Risk and Innovation Research Centre, IoBM and Assistant Professor at College of Business Management (CBM).
Faculty who played an instrumental role in guiding students for this exhibition comprised Professor Dr. Irshad Khan, Senior Fellow, Mr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Senior Fellow, Mr. Fahad Bin Abdullah, Senior Lecturer, Ms. Falak Shad Memon, Senior Lecturer, Ms. Mehreen Kausar Azam, Lecturer and Ms. Saima Yaqoob, Lecturer. Commendable in this regard have been the services of Ms. Shazleen Arshad, Lab Engineer and Mr. Mussawir Ali, Lab Technician.
External evaluators comprised Mr. Sheikh Abdul Qadir from HINOPAK, Mr. Mohsin Riaz, Supply Chain Head, SGS, Syed Hasham, Deputy Manager, SGS and Mr. Mohammad Ali Imran, Assistant Manager, Electrical, SGS.
Among the key organizers of this exhibition were Ms. Mehreen Kausar and Ms. Shazleen Arshad under the guidance of Dr. Shahzeb Malik.
This poster and model exhibition of students’ term projects from Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, which was largely-attended by students, faculty and management and especially the faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management Department, IoBM, spoke volumes of the fact that “science is about knowing; engineering is about doing”.
The mission of College of Engineering Sciences (CES), IoBM is to meet the current and future requirements of engineering industry, academia and government by providing a comfortable environment for teaching, learning and research in the theory and applications of engineering.
The vision of CES, IoBM is to develop entrepreneurial engineers can meet the future challenges of the industry and who have the technical skills and confidence to create new engineering technologies and design innovative engineering products and processes, thereby enabling them to become successful professionals locally and globally. The vision is derived from IoBM’s vision to be among the leading institution of higher learning nationally and internationally.
According to Prof. Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder, “CES commitment to its vision and mission can be seen from its strategic focus on international accreditation, development of entrepreneurship for job creation, emphasis on leadership through social entrepreneurship, engagement with industry through experiential learning, mentoring of students by industry leaders, faculty development through impactful intellectual contributions, stimulation of critical thinking for creativity and innovation, and a lively and thriving culture of student activities”.
