Guiding tips for graduates

Catchwords that make our youth’s world go round are focusing on social enterprise, targeting the year 2030, tapping the CPEC promise and potential, and above all, human and moral values in life, career and business excellence — These are the thought-provoking points to ponder by Mr. Khalid Nawaz Awan, Co-Founder and Chairman of TCS (Tranzum Courier Services) for the young nation, especially for the IoBM students and our aspiring entrepreneurs towards a better and brighter Pakistan.

Mr. Khalid Nawaz Awan was addressing an interactive session at the Entrepreneurship and Management Excellence Center (EMEC), Institute of Business Management (IoBM), Karachi on Wednesday, March 08, 2017. This session was largely attended by IoBM students, faculty, HoDs, Deans and management. The occasion was graced by the kind and inspiring presence of IoBM President, Mr. Shahjehan S. Karim. IoBM Rector, Mr. Talib S. Karim welcomed and introduced the distinguished guest.

TCS, the brainchild of Mr. Khalid Nawaz Awan, who leads from the front in planning, organizing, directing, controlling and promoting this courier service established in 1983, headquartered in Pakistan, with over 2,000 locations in the country and a presence in 5 continents. The company has an airline for cargo purposes which operates from many of the airports in Pakistan. It also operates with 853 Express Centers and has over 375 satellite-tracked delivery vehicles and a team of 4,000 couriers.

This is the kind of experience which Mr. Khalid Nawaz Awan humbly owns as he arrived at the EMEC, IoBM.  During the interactive session, he emphasized upon the need to use technology to gain benefit from and to connect our financial, emotional and intellectual capital to develop sustainable businesses. He stressed upon students to develop such businesses that can add value to the society at large.

While sharing the secrets of success with students, Mr. Khalid Nawaz Awan explained that they should possess and acquire the right set of skills, be competent and work hard towards their goals in life. Moreover, Mr. Awan emphasized that young entrepreneurs should create jobs and use their communication skills, vision and ideas to change the world around them for the better. While speaking on women workforce in the corporate sector, Mr. Awan maintained that women need to be physically and emotionally stronger to achieve their career, professional and business dreams and aspirations.

Mr. Awan highlighted the idea of such a business model that could serve the common man and that business pertaining to different and services must benefit the masses at the grassroots level. He believed the quality of economy will be determined by the kind of businesses and new ventures. Whatever the nature of business, human capital is of greater significance compared to financial capital.
