Three years of MRSS….and beyond!

Commenting on the completion of three years of MRSS, Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder, Dean CBM and CES, IoBM said, “Congratulations. A wonderful achievement. A start of a good tradition. Now for us to continue the spirit and momentum.”

By Allah’s grace the Multidisciplinary Research Seminar Session (MRSS) of the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) has completed three years of active sessions since its inaugural in April 2015. The inaugural session of the MRSS was honored by the presence of our Late Founder President, Mr. Shahjehan S. Karim, who was indeed the main motivational force behind the progress of MRSS activities.

What began as a feeble platform with dearth of presenters, audience of MRSS has grown in multitudes. This was possible because of the inspiring guidance in pursuing endeavors and objectives MRSS received from Mr. Talib Karim, President IoBM; Ms. Sabina Mohsin, Executive Director, IoBM; Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder, Dean CBM and CES, IoBM along with the support of other IoBM Deans, HoDs, faculty and administrative staff.

While Dr. Muhammad Abid Ali, Assistant Professor, Education Department, IoBM has been Coordinator, MRSS, IoBM, for the last three years, Dr. Adnan Bashir, Assistant Professor, Marketing Department, has been named as the successor to Dr. Abid Ali. A ceremony took place on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at the faculty lounge in the SSK Center of Excellence Building where while MRSS team celebrated its three years, Dr. Adnan Bashir was officially named as Coordinator, MRSS, IoBM.

MRSS team has continuously strived for assessing the researchers’ research needs and selected the programs accordingly. During the last three years, 81 sessions of MRSS have been conducted which include research presentation, external speakers session, research symposiums, awareness programs, workshops, two international conferences and an international video research presentation via Skype.

Future plans of MRSS include focusing on research supervision development programs, hold PhD symposium on regular basis, conduct informal research sessions to discuss and coordinate with other universities for remote participation in MRSS sessions. MRSS indeed works by the principle of continuous improvement and this approach has paid off in letter and in spirit. We hope that MRSS-IoBM model is replicated in other higher education institutions of Pakistan.
